GIVING BACK
TO ABERDEEN

Kessler’s has been actively involved in the growth and promotion of Aberdeen, SD, and our surrounding community for over 70 years. Kessler’s continues to give generously to local charities and local causes as we believe that it is vitally important to reinvest by contributing to organizations and issues that are important to these communities.

Stuff A Truck

Stuff-A-Truck

In 2013, Kessler’s decided to hold a food drive to support our community. Because of the tremendous support and success of that event, we decided to hold it again this year. Those two years raised 65,000 pounds of non-perishable food and goods for Aberdeen’s Salvation Army. This event will be another staple in Kessler’s Commitment to support our community.

Dollars for Scholars program

To assist area schools financially, Kessler’s started the Dollars for Scholars program. Schools collect Kessler store receipts and turn them in for a 1% rebate on the receipt totals. Since establishing the program, Kessler’s has given nearly $1,000,000 to our area elementary, middle and secondary schools. This has been a successful program we plan to continue indefinitely.

Kessler's Community Support

Events & Programs

Kessler’s is proud of these five events and programs it has built over the years. But, supporting the community doesn’t end there; Kessler’s is a significant benefactor to the following organizations…giving tens of thousands of dollars annually.

  • YMCA to build itsYouth Development Center
  • Northern State University Foundation
  • Roncalli Aberdeen Catholic School System
  • Boys & Girls Club
  • Brown County Fair

Oktoberfest

And last, but certainly not least, Kessler’s openly and generously gives immeasurable support directly to our customers and smaller groups in the community. This includes holding fun community events, such as Oktoberfest (left) as well as providing food & drink, general supplies, promotional space, and money for their own fundraising efforts. One such example was a fundraiser held by the volunteers of Habitat for Humanity in May (right).

In the coming year, Kessler’s is planning to develop a focused Community Giving Program that will outline the types of organizations that it will focus it’s giving on in the future. Outlining that program clearly will allow the community to better understand our objectives when we provide those gifts of money and time.
